I am finally fulfilling my dream to climb Denali! What better way than
with four incredible women on a beautiful route like the Muldrow Glacier.
I have lived in Alaska all my life and began climbing almost five years
ago. Since the first time I tied a figure eight, climbing has been a major
part of my life, both for the enjoyment of it and for the strength it
brings physically and mentally.
I learned to climb here in Alaska by taking mountaineering and rock climbing
classes through the university. Since then, I have climbed all over southcentral
Alaska in the Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains, California in the Sierra-Nevada
Range and Yosemite National Park, Oregon in Smith Rock, and New Zealand.
Two days before we fly out to begin our expedition, I will be walking
across the stage and receiving my undergraduate degree in biological sciences.
Someday I hope to work with a non-profit group helping to preserve endangered
species, but that's a long way down the road.
This is my year to shine! In addition to climbing I also love to run and
hope to complete a marathon for my first time this year as well. I have
tremendous faith in our team and I know this will be an amazing experience.
We will come back with a greater understanding of ourselves and be ready
to conquer anything. Women rock! Go Denali Divas
