years old I lived in Girdwood for three years in a cabin up Crow Creek road with my two huskies working odd jobs, climbing mountains, and skiing as much as possible. This past year I moved to Homer to scoop dog poop, learn the golden rule of dog mushing, Never let go, and help train two teams for the Yukon Quest dog sled race. In the summer, I worked for Alaska State Parks building trails for public use. After handling for the Yukon Quest, I've returned to the Anchorage area finally using my degree substitute teaching. Grew up in Colorado, climbing my first big mountain, a 14er in seventh grade. Ever since then, I have had a strong love and pull towards mountains. Grown up in sports competing in skiing, swimming, lacrosse, 10k and triathlon races. Known to jump off a bridge with only the safety of a bungee cord. Went to Bozeman and skied for the Bridger Bowl Freestyle ski team. Competing allowed me to travel and ski mountains all over the States and Canada. I received a BA in English Literature
at Montana State University in Bozeman. One of my favorite classes was
Avalanche Awareness, Rescue, and Safety. My free time was occupied with
winter camping and backcountry skiing in the high country all over the
state and the Tetons. I found myself spending more time climbing mountains
and playing in the snow rather than in the classroom! I'm excited for our quest on Denali! Also looking forward to a trip with all women and being in the Alaskan Range for 30 days! Becky Hansen
